Bipolar is a scary term for many people. It is a condition that impacts functioning in multiple or areas of the person’s life.  For people with bipolar disorder, the symptoms are sometimes noticeable in the teenage years; by early adulthood, symptoms are more prominent.  Mood disorders can be scary because you don’t feel like everyone else. Many people who have bipolar struggle with relationships,  have trouble holding down a job, some turn to drugs or other addictions, some even attempt to harm themselves. There is hope, don’t give up.

Symptoms of Bipolar (you can have some or many of these at the same time and at different times)

  • being depressed for 2 or more weeks
  • decrease joy in activities you previously liked
  • decreased self care: like not wanting to shower, get dressed or brush your teeth
  • poor sleep — either too much, too little, or never feeling rested, having insomnia
  • Feeling more energetic than usual, but not able to get things done
  • Getting into arguments with people, fighting
  • Feeling easily frustrated or like your emotions are out of control or having “mood swings”

Treatment options: In many cases medications will help, but there are also studies showing dietary and lifestyle changes can improve symptoms of bipolar without medications. There is hope and help for those who feel that they have no control over their emotions. We are ready to help you.
